Our citizenship and immigration services are designed to help families and youth navigate the process of becoming responsible, productive United States Citizens. We assist clients with their citizenship application, offer citizenship classes, offer tutoring focused on interview skills, and help with passport application.
Our staff educates and encourages clients to participate in the Democratic process by assisting with voter registration, voter education workshops, and participating in different advocacy efforts during Latino Advocacy Day in Sacramento.
We offer the following Services;
Program staff give detailed information on citizenship qualifications, application procedures and the time frame for obtaining citizenship status.
Immigration consultations are held Monday and Tuesday, 11a.m. to 3:00pm. Space is limited, call for information.
The service is provided for a fee by B.I.A. (Board of Immigration Appeals) Certified professionals at the Spanish Speaking Citizens Foundation site.
Monday to Friday, 1:00pm - 3:00pm (Approval Pending).
Wednesdays - 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
Citizenship Preparation Classes:
Thursday and Friday - 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
Free, on-site citizenship preparation classes are available to applicants once their application has been submitted. Class instruction is primarily focused on the 100 Civics (history and government) questions and answers for the naturalization test. Students practice reading, answering and writing responses to each question and also learn about the interview process.
In addition to practicing in a group setting, and prior to the citizenship interview, students can request one-on-one tutoring focused on helping them practice speaking English for the citizen test designed to measure applicants command of the English language.
Community Education Workshop:
SSCF provides a series of workshops for members of the Latino community on several key issues;
These workshops are offered six times per year and are open to all community members. The workshops are designed to help participants understand and influence the structures and systems of our society.
