LIBRE: Dedicated to the Empowerment of Oakland's Youth
LIBRE serves 100 youth annually in Oakland, offering a supportive environment for learning, leadership, work skills, self-esteem, and environmental awareness. We are dedicated to empowering young people to achieve their goals, make responsible decisions, and become productive adults dedicated to creating social change for the advancement of their community. LIBRE stands for Leading the Independence of our Barrios through Raza Empowerment. We serve youth of any sexual identity, ages 12-20. Our programs provide a safe and inclusive space for youth to learn and grow, and we strive to motivate their learning development in school.

💪 Empowerment: access to resources and opportunities
We care for our community members by taking an interest in their lives and guiding them to reach their full potential. LIBRE enables our youth to become citizens who can contribute to the betterment of society and become leaders and agents of change.
🧠 Leadership: creating agents of change for our communities
Leadership is not only about being in charge, but also about being a role model and a positive influence on others. We foster and train compassionate leaders through educational activities, social service, environmental awarness and culture.
📚 Academic achievement: accessing college.
We provide students with the support and resources they need to successfully apply to and enroll in college. We do this through a variety of programs and services such as college application workshops, financial aid counseling, and college campus visits.
🌎 Community: creating a safe and friendly environment
LIBRE empowers students to become active and engaged members of their communities, and provides cultural and social programs that promote the preservation their heritage, culture, and traditions while adjusting to life in the United States.
